ISSDC SE :: DECEMBER 13 :: ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY

ISSDC SE REGIONAL HOLIDAY PARTY!

¡Feliz Navidad! It's time for the annual ISSDC SE Regional Holiday Party!

WHAT: The ISSDC SE Region is holding it's Annual Holiday Party on December 13th. This year we've planned the event so you can bring your Shilohs with you! It is also a potluck luncheon with a Mexican theme, so please bring a dish to pass with some of your favorite Mexican flavors!

WHEN:
December 13 – begins @ 11:00am

WHERE:
The Annual ISSDC SE Regional Holiday Party is graciously being hosted at the Dog School of Leesburg facilities.

Dog School of Leesburg
305 E Market St Suite B
Leesburg, VA 20176

Please contact Marti Nottingham for directions or if you have any questions on the location.

WHY:
This annual event is always a lot of fun, and the holidays are best when spent with friends and family. As we said, as opposed to previous years, your Shilohs are welcome and we encourage you to bring them but we remind you to be aware of your Shiloh at all times. There are plenty of exercise pens, rooms with doors and windows where you can keep an eye on things and even crates in the back should a canine misbehave and need a timeout. Please bring along a chair or two for the humans attending.

HOW MUCH:
The holiday party is pot luck so we ask you tor bring a dish to share. We are going with a Mexican theme for the food, so brush up on your Feliz Navidad karaoke! There is a sign up sheet circulating and you can find it on the ISSDC SE Yahoo Group or you can contact Marti Nottingham for further information and/or to sign up.

We are foregoing our gift exchange this year and will instead be collecting donations for the Pet Pantry of Loudoun. Please bring a donation of dog/cat food, treats and toys.

WHAT: The ISSDC SE Region is holding it's Fall Potluck Picnic on October 25th (this is the raindate as our original date of October 17th was rained out). Spend a fun day with your Shilohs and your fellow ISSDC SE members outside romping — there will be fun, games, food and friendship; what more could you ask for.

WHEN:
October 25 – begins @ 10:30am
Rain or shine

WHERE:
The ISSDC SE Regional Fall Oktoberfest picnic is graciously being hosted by Siegi Belz of Stall Europa at their home in Waterford, VA. Please contact Marti Nottingham for directions or if you have any questions on the location.

ISSDC SE :: NOVEMBER 7-8, 2009 :: AHBA HERDING TRIAL

A WOOLIES HERDING WE WILL GO!

WHAT:
Join us for a fun-filled weekend watching your Shiloh's natural herding ability brought out. Members of the ISSDC SE region have been taking lessons at Keeptstone Farm in Berryville Virginia, since Spring and want to extend a paw to all Shilohs to come on out and try, along side them, their hand at herding at this AHBA Sanctioned Trial.

There will be two test classes (HCT, JHD) and three trial level classes (HTD I, II, III, HTAD I, II, III and HRD I, II, III). What this means is that your Shiloh, with never having seen sheep but knowing how to sit and come, can earn a title in one weekend; two times in the ring and that is all! We had several Shiloh Shepherds do just that last year at the trial.

Although this trial is in VA, we welcome and encourage all Shiloh Shepherds (and their owners) to attend if they wish to!

WHEN:
Saturday November 7th – Sunday November 8th, 2009
8:00 am Sharp until all runs are complete each day

WHERE:
Keepstone Farm
2412 Russell Road
Berryville, VA
Outdoors, Rain or Shine

WHY:
Our own SE Region members Nottingham Shilohs, in conjunction with Keepstone Farm, are sponsoring the event. We encourage novice and advanced herders to come out to the trial. For the novice herder, watching the natural instinct kick in is such a thrill. If your dog is at least six months old, and of sound health, you can have them instinct tested. If they pass, they will receive a Herding Instinct Certificate (HIC) from Keepstone Farm and will also receive AHBA credit for their first leg toward their title, the HCT1 Sheep. Dogs younger than six months can test for the HIC with permission from Keepstone but will not receive AHBA credit.

HOW MUCH:
Registration is now open and slots are filling fast.
Pre-entry (received before October 20, 2009) is $42/run/dog for all classes
Regular entry (received on or after October 21, 2009) is $46/run/dog for all classes

Download the Informational Herding Packet

Or you may contact Marti Nottingham directly if you have further questions.

HAPPY HERDING!

For those unfamiliar, Keepstone Farm is where the Fab Five Shilohs (who earned AHBA acceptance/recognition for the Shiloh Shepherd breed) trained.

Members are getting together as a "group," however, lessons are taken per individual dog, are hands on and are 20 minutes long per dog. If you are interested in attending, want to reserve a spot or have any questions, please contact Marti Nottingham for further information and/or clarification.

WHEN:
